When I first called Chris Hollingsworth six years ago to talk about an idea I had to put on a triathlon, I had no idea what was to come. Along with his Seven Seas crew, we have successfully produced five solid years of award-winning swim, bike and run events, that not only are amazingly produced, but have also raised almost one million dollars for our charity partners. It could have not happened without that phone call.
Chris Hollingsworth has been Race Director for the Susan G. Komen Northern Nevada Race for the Cure for several years and I have had the good fortune to work with him for the last three. In spite of challenging economic times and competition from other events, our Race for the Cure has continued to attract thousands of participants who come back year after year for the experience that Chris and his team at Seven Seas Industries help provide.
Chris doesn’t just show up on Race Day. He collaborates with us for months ahead as we plan the Race and his ideas, expertise and enthusiasm help ensure we put together a memorable event that people are excited to attend. He is a true professional who has the rare ability to see the big picture and share a vision of how and event should really look and feel, and is able to combine that skill with ensuring that every detail is thought of so nothing falls through the cracks.
It is reassuring to know that Chris will cover all the minutiae such as securing permits, devising an appropriate race course, working with the timing company, ensuring volunteers are properly informed and liaising with City services. But foremost in Chris’ mind is making sure we create an event that helps generate as much fundraising revenue as possible while keeping a very close eye on the costs. Chris shares our passion for community and our vision of a world without breast cancer and puts his heart and soul into helping us achieve our goals.
